BBM name to be included in the ballot

Expect to see the name of presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in the ballot for the May 2022 polls.

Commission on Elections- Education and Information Department Director Elaiza said the name of Marcos Jr. will be in the ballot since his cases are still pending before the poll body.

"Since the ballot face is already ready and his cases are still pending...we are expected to see his name in the ballot," she said in a virtual press briefing on Monday, Jan. 17.

David said the ballot face for overseas voting is expected to be uploaded in the Comelec website on the said day.

"The ballot face is already out and it will be uploaded to the Comelec website," she said.

"However, this ballot face is only for overses voting and as you know in overseas voting they don't vote for the local positions. So you are expected to see only the positions for the national level in that particular ballot face," David added.

As for the ballot face for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and non-BARMM areas, she said, they will announce it as they come.

Meanwhile, the Comelec First Division has yet to release the decision on the petitions seeking to disqualify Marcos Jr. in the presidential race.

This after a staff of the division was infected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"I got an information that the staff or lawyer-in-charge of the drafting is infected by COVID. According to that office, they are trying to prioritize first the health of their staff," David said.

Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon earlier announced that the decision will be out on or before Jan. 17.

The Comelec First Division is handling the three petitions for disqualification filed by Bonifacio Ilagan, Akbayan party, and Abubakar Mangelen against Marcos Jr.
