BARMM ballots to be 30-inch long

The ballots that will be used in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) area will be the longest in the May 2022 polls.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday, Jan. 17, said the ballots for BARMM will measure 30 inches long.

"It's 30 inches, which is the longest, for BARMM," Comelec - Education and Information Department (EID) Director Elaiza David said in a virtual press briefing.

She said their ballots will be longer because their names are longer and they have more candidates.

For non-BARMM ballots, David said, it will measure 26 inches while overseas ballot will measure 25 inches.

The Comelec will conduct a walkthrough at the National Printing Office (NPO) in Quezon City on Tuesday, Jan. 18, in preparation for the start of the printing of ballots.

"It is going to be purely virtual and it will start at 10 a.m.," said David.

"We will have another announcement regarding when printing will start but it is going to be after the walkthrough," she added.
