Pasig River's ferry service system to adopt 'no vax, no ride'- MMDA


The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that its Pasig River Ferry Service will adopt the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) “no vaccination, no ride” policy in the resumption of its operations on Monday, Jan. 17.

In an interview with DZBB, MMDA Traffic Engineering Center Director Neomie Recio said that move is in compliance with the directive of the DOTr’s to the transport sector to deny their services to the unvaccinated individuals.

The operation of the MMDA's Pasig River Ferry Service from Jan. 12 to 15 for the disinfection of passenger boats.

“Merong sinabi si DOTr na no vaccination, no ride sa public transportation at yung ferry service natin considered as public transportation kaya lang sa tubig dumadaan. So pag wala kang vaccination card di ka pwedeng sumakay (The DOTr implemented the no vaccination, no ride policy for public transportations. Our ferry service is also considered as public transportation, so passengers without vaccination cards will not be allowed to ride the boats),” she said.

The MMDA's ferry boats pass through the cities of Makati, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Manila, and Pasig. It has 12 stations with designated MMDA personnel to check passengers’ vaccination cards.
