“Black Knight” is a futuristic series set in 2017 when the world is suffering from air pollution and people depend on respirator masks to breathe.

“Only one percent of the human race has survived, and a strict social stratification has been established in the deserted lands of the Korean Peninsula. Delivery drivers play a crucial role within this system, and for refugees, becoming a delivery driver is their only hope for survival,” according to Netflix.

In “Black Knight,” Kim Woo-bin will play the role of “5-8,” a legacy delivery driver who has exceptional battle skills.

“Sawol,” a refugee who dreams of following his footsteps, will be played by Kang Yoo-seok, whose drama credits include “The Grotesque Mansion: The Original,” “Light on Me,” “Start-Up” and “Once Again.”

Esom, who starred in the 2020 Korean film “Samjin Company English Class,” will essay the role of Seolah, a military officer at the Defense Intelligence Command. Seolah saves Sawol and cares for him like her own family.

“Black Knight” will be one of Kim Woo-bin’s comeback projects after getting diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in 2017. His acting credits include “Master,” “Twenty” “The Con Artists,” “Uncontrollably Fond” and “Inheritors.”

The new drama project, based on a popular webtoon, won the E-IP Award at the Asian Film Market, which connects web drama, web novel, webtoon, story creators to entertainment industry specialists who can revamp them into different formats.
