Cebu town to require permit before any social gathering

CEBU CITY – Any gathering has to be approved by the municipal government.

This will be the set-up in Sta Fe town, northern Cebu as it steps up its battle against COVID-19.

Santa Fe Mayor Ithamar Espinosa on Tuesday, Jan. 11, announced that in response to the sharp rise of COVID-19 in the country, permits will be required for social gatherings in the town.

“Luyo sa kakuyaw nga dala niining bag o nga variant nga mao ang Omicron, di unta natu ipatigbabaw ang atung kompyansa ug pagbaliwala niini (Amid the threat brought by the new variant Omicron, let us not allow complacency and disregarding the danger to prevail)," Espinosa said.

“Subay niini, akong ipahibalo nga ang tanang gatherings o pagpundok sa mga tawo sa atung lungsod, nagkinahanglan og municipal permit sa atung buhatan (In line with this, I am announcing that all gatherings need a municipal permit from our office),” Espinosa added in a post on his social media account.

Espinosa also advised not just his constituents but also town visitors to strictly observe minimum health protocols to help prevent the spread of the virus.

“Sama sa naandan, panghingusgan sa atung lungsod ang pag implementar sa pag sul ob og mask ug social distancing sa matag usa (As the usual practice, the town will intensify the implementation of the wearing of facemasks and social distancing),” Espinosa said.
