The rating for the JTBC Korean drama “Snowdrop,” which stars Jung Hae-in and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, has decreased.
Episode 8 of “Snowdrop” aired on Jan. 8 and according to Nielsen Korea, it received a nationwide rating of 2.584 percent based on households subscribed to paid platforms in South Korea.
This is lower by 0.66 percentage point compared to the 3.252 percent rating garnered by episode 7 of “Snowdrop” last Jan. 2.
The rating for episode 8 is the fifth highest among the eight episodes. Episode 2 is the highest rated to date with 3.898 percent nationwide rating followed by episode 7 with 3.252, episode 1 with 2.985 percent and episode 5 with 2.751.
“Snowdrop” tells the story of political conspiracy and espionage against the backdrop of the 1987 Korean presidential election and a romance that blooms amid it.
In the drama, the South and North Korean governments conspire for political power. North Korean spy Im Soo-ho (Jung Hae-in), a 27-year-old graduate student, is sent to South Korea to do a mission.
Jisoo is 20-year-old Eun Young-ro, a college student at Hosoo Women’s University. The two meet during a group blind date after which Eun Young-ro falls in love with him. Six months later, during a mission, a bloodied Im Soo-ho is chased by agents from the ANSP. He climbs into the dormitory room of Eun Young-ro and loses consciousness. She finds him in her room and hides him from authorities.
In Episode 8, Im Soo-ho and his two North Korean comrades are still in the dorm and holding hostage 64 students and staff including Eun Young-ro.
JTBC also aired the scenes featuring the late actress Kim Mi-soo, who is playing the role of student activist Yeo Jeong-Min, a 23-year-old fourth year History student and a roommate of Jisoo.
Kim Mi-soo died on Jan. 5 at age 29 and was buried on Jan. 7. The cause of her death was not disclosed.
Jung Hae-in and Jisoo paid tribute to Kim Mi-soo by posting photos on their Instagram accounts.
At the end of episode 8, JTBC Studios also paid tribute to Kim Mi-soo. Episode 9 of “Snowdrop” will air on Jan. 9.
