In announcement on his official Facebook page, Toshi revealed that he’ll be stepping away from the limelight for the upcoming MPL S9.

“Adrian G. Bacallo a.k.a. Toshi will rest and will not participate this upcoming MPL-PH Season 9. Thank you to the ones who believed, who supported to him throughout his career,” the post wrote.

“Also would like to thank the teams and teammates who have given Toshi an opportunity to showcase his skills in the competitive scene,” it added.

The veteran gold laner played for five seasons in the league and last suited up for TNC before he was released at the end of the MPL PH Season 8. Toshi, who entered the professional scene through SGD Omega in Season 4 had his best finish in Season 6 when his then-Smart Omega finished second behind champions Bren Esports. That booked Toshi and his squad a trip to the M2 World champions where the squad finished in the fifth to sixth spots.

Omega then went on a major revamp in Season 7, releasing the entire squad as Toshi found his way to TNC. It was a forgettable stint however as TNC finished dead last in the standings with only four wins to show in 14 games in the elimination.

Although an earlier post on his official page hinted at a possible retirement, it’s still unclear whether the veteran gold laner is coming back for the next season or will be hanging his jersey for good.
