Police dismantle drug den; P1.4-M shabu seized in Taguig buy-bust


Police operatives dismantled a suspected drug den and seized nearly P1.4 million worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in Taguig on Thursday, Jan. 6.

Southern Police District (SPD) director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg said members of the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU), District Intelligence Division, District Mobile Force Battalion, and Taguig Police Sub-Station 5 conducted a buy-bust operation along Dinggin Bayan Street in Bgy. Ibayo-Tipas, Taguig at about 6:50 p.m.

Macaraeg identified the arrested suspects as Nerilita Jumaquio, 55; Jon-Jon Cajucom, 35; Jobelle Cruz, 36; Norudin Bandong, 28; Raida Ali, 25; and Crisanto San Jose, 63, all residents of Taguig.

Seized during the operation were 32 plastic sachets containing about 205 grams of shabu worth P1.39 million, the P500 buy-bust money, and a digital weighing scale.

The suspects were brought to the SPD-DDEU office for documentation while the filing of cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) is being prepared against them.

All recovered pieces of evidence will be turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.

“Because of our intensified drive against illegal drug operation, I must say that it is possible that someday we will be able to catch the ‘big fish’ in the illegal drug trade which is key to eradicate the menace of drugs in our country that is rapidly victimizing the youth. With this, I am asking our citizens’ help to support this battle by means of reporting any illegal drug activities in your area,” said Macaraeg.
