More places are set to be placed under Alert Level 3 like the National Capital Region (NCR) and adjacent provinces even as President Duterte, himself, spearheaded efforts to restrict the movement of unvaccinated persons by reiterating his order for barangay chairpersons to keep them in their residences.

Also, at the President’s Talk to the People late Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, Duterte called out to doctors and nurses waiting for the results of their respective board exams to volunteer in the government’s coronavirus disease (COVID-19) response efforts, and even approved an increase in the allowances that would be allotted to them.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also announced on the program that it was already accepting applications for special certification for COVID-19 tests that could be administered at home.

Meanwhile, the Philippine literary world will be waking up to the sad news that National Artis F. Sionil Jose has passed away at age 97 years old.

Personnel of the Makati Business Permit License Office puts up a sign indicating that a closure order was implemented on Berjaya Hotel Makati on Friday, Jan. 6, 2022. The closure stemmed from a returning Filipina from the United States, who was supposed to quarantine at the hotel, jumped the restriction and attended a party at a nearby bar, only to later test positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
