“Natutuwa tayo na ‘yung ating mga kababayan ay tumutugon sa panawagan ng pamahalaang lungsod na talagang kailangan ng i-booster 'yung mga bakunado (We are glad that our countrymen are responding to the city government's call that the vaccinated people really need to get boosted),” he said in an interview with reporters on Thursday, Jan. 6.

“I’m happy that everyone ay sumusunod ngayon sa Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Maynila (are following the City Government of Manila). At saka masayang-masaya ako sa mga senior citizens dahil sila nagpapa-booster na (And I'm also very happy with the senior citizens because they availed of the booster shots) which is very important for everyone,” he added.

According to Domagoso, the City of Manila has seen more people getting interested to get vaccinated recently.

“At biglang dumami ngayon ‘yung mga hindi taga Maynila na pumunta rito para magpabakuna kasi talagang di na sila pwede sa mall kapagka hindi sila vaccinated (More and more people who are not from Manila are coming here to get vaccinated because they really can't go to the mall if they aren't vaccinated),” he said.

Thousands of both residents and non-residents of Manila also went to vaccination sites in Robinson’s Mall, the drive-thru booster shots for delivery workers at the Bonifacio Shrine, as well as to the night vaccination in Divisoria market.

“Nagsabay-sabay ngayon dahil sa nerbyos siguro sa COVID-19. Di natin masisisi ang mga kababayan natin. Just the same, yayakapin natin hanggang kaya natin. In fact, hindi tayo tumigil sa bakunahan (Many went because they are afraid of COVID-19. We cannot blame them. Just the same, we will accommodate as much as we can. In fact, we have not stopped vaccinating),” the Manila mayor assured.

Domagoso thanked the Manila Health Department, the Manila Disaster Risk Response Management Office (MDRRMO), the City Engineering Office, the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB), and the Bureau of Public Sanitation (BPS) for their hard work on the city’s vaccination drive.

As of Wednesday, Jan. 5, a total of 3,055,209 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered by the city government.
