Manila extends drive-thru booster vaccination for delivery riders

The Manila city government will extend its free coronavirus disease (COVID-19) booster vaccination program for delivery riders until Friday, Jan. 7.

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso announced the continuation of the booster deployment during a Facebook livestream on Thursday, Jan. 6.

Two-wheel vehicle couriers of Grab, Angkas, Lalamove, Shopee, Mr. Speedy, FoodPanda, and Lazada are eligible to avail of the free booster shots on Friday, Jan. 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The vaccines will be deployed in the same venue -- the Bonifacio Shrine beside the Manila City Hall.

The booster deployment for couriers began on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Domagoso, who visited the facility, observed that about seven out of 10 couriers who availed of the free booster jabs were not even residents of Manila.

“At biglang dumami ngayon ‘yung mga hindi taga Maynila na pumunta rito para magpabakuna kasi talagang di na sila pwede sa mall kapagka hindi sila vaccinated (Many non-residents of Manila have come here to get jabbed because they can't go to the malls unless they are vaccinated),” Domagoso said to reporters.
