Mandaluyong City to close markets every Monday over COVID-19 surge


The Mandaluyong City local government announced on Wednesday, Jan. 5, that all markets in the city will be closed every Monday as the Metro continues to grapple with the surge in COVID-19 cases.

In its announcement on its official Facebook page, the local government unit (LGU) said that starting Jan. 10, all markets in Mandaluyong will be closed to give way to disinfection and clean-up.

It also urged the public to remain vigilant in observing the public health and safety protocols.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos urged her constituents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and be boosted to further increase their protection from the coronavirus.

According the the City Health Department (CHD), the city has recorded 466 active COVID-19 cases as of Jan. 5. It added that 26,269 individuals have recovered from the coronavirus while 572 have died.
