DAR distributes relief goods to Negros Oriental farmers affected by ‘Odette’

Farmers and agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) affected by Typhoon Odette have received relief goods from the Department of Agrarian and Reform (DAR) in Negros Oriental.

In a statement, DAR Secretary Bernie F. Cruz said they visited the place to provide the immediate needs of the farmers, assess their situation, and help them recover from the typhoon’s devastation.

Cruz led the distribution of relief goods such as rice and canned goods in the towns of Mabinay and Bais City.

He said the department will provide multiple farm machinery, inputs, credit assistance, and training to the ARBs to ensure that livelihood options in the communities will be available.

Meanwhile, Cruz urged all DAR field officials to expedite the distribution of unused government-owned lands (GOLs) and private agricultural lands (PALs), which should be accomplished within the first three months of 2022.
