Many of us look forward to the new year because it means new beginnings, new opportunities, but since the pandemic happened, the new year has become uncertain. (na may halong takot minsan ha!) The increasing number of COVID-19 every start of the year can be alarming not only for our safety but also for our livelihood. (nababawasan ang karektetan!) But of course, we are here to fight and live. (ding ang bato!)
For the entertainment industry, we are not sure yet if we will be back to the old normal in the coming months. (pero wag naman sana new normal forever!) We still see the work from home set up, every now and then. A number of showbiz activities are done online. (yung iba pinipilit, para lang maitawid!)
*Press/media conference:
There’s still the usual question and answer segment of media friends and celebrities. But since it is usually via zoom, no more buffet and unlimited drinks. Good thing, some organizers would provide food delivery service for all the attendees. (so lafang pa rin kahit monitor ang kaharap mo!)
*Showbiz events:
I have hosted several events during this pandemic. There were times I would host it from my house, or they would ask to be at a venue but no live audience. I would just be with the production team. The participants were typically watching from their respective homes. (so minsan kailangang magpanggap kang may interaction sa kanila kahit wala namang masyado!)
*TV guestings and interviews:
A number of television shows have incorporated an online component in their program line-up, since the number of people in the studio should be limited. Some hosts and guests do the segments from their houses. I have done this many times. (kaya dapat di shonga magset-up sa bahay at may maaasahang internet!)
*Movies and TV/digital series:
Producing one film or TV series is challenging, especially with the new normal. Some directors would insert online scenes just to complete the sequences and flow of the story. There are event movies that evolve around the cyberworld. (para lusot ang lahat ng online scenes! Para-paraan talaga para mabuhay!)
We settle for these scenarios for now. But we hope to bring back the old times of fun and excitement of being together physically. (hopefully di naman emotionally. bahala na ang universe sa atin!)
