4 dead as fire hits warehouse in Catanduanes


CAMP OLA, Albay — Four individuals died while one survived after a fire hit a warehouse that was converted into a residence by the victims Friday morning, December 31, in Brgy. Concepcion, Virac town in Catanduanes province.

Police Major Malu Calubaquib identified the fatalities as Rosamarie Buentiempo, 28, her live-in partner Jzar Estacio, 25, and two minors aged 7 and 3 respectively.

Calubaquid said Benzon Buentiempo, 37, sustained slight injuries after he managed to escape when he noticed that the warehouse that they were renting was on fire.

Initial investigation disclosed that faulty electrical wiring caused the inferno which started at around 3 a.m. and was declared fire out around 4:50 a.m.
