"So far, no reported damages coming from the affected regions," Mark Timbal, NDRRMC spokesperson, told teporters.

He said regional disaster risk reduction and management officials (RDRRMOs) of the affected areas were still conducting assessment on the ground. The initial results of their damage assessment will be released as soon as they are available, he added.

The epicenter of the earthquake struck at 23 kilometers northeast of Looc town around 1:12 a.m. with a depth of 74 km., according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The earthquake was tectonic in origin which means that it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area, Phivolcs said.

Intensity V was felt in Tagaytay City and Amadeo, Cavite while Intensity IV and Intensity III were experienced in some parts of Metro Manila.

The NDRRMC expects that the tremor would result to damage to properties as it advised the affected areas to prepare for possible aftershocks.
