P3.4-M shabu seized in Manila buy-bust operation


Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents arrested on Thursday, July 22 two alleged drug peddlers who yielded P3.4 million worth of "shabu" during a buy-bust operation in Quiapo, Manila.

In its report, the PDEA Regional Office IV-A Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET) identified the suspects as Allan Taha Usman and Rocky Pablo Cornelio.

The duo was nabbed at 1:20 p.m. at the corner of Hidalgo and Barbosa streets in Barangay 383.

The PDEA team spent weeks conducting surveillance on the suspects before staging the buy-bust operation. Once collared, the suspects yielded 500 grams of shabu, also known as methamphetamine hydrochloride.

PDEA Spokesperson Derrick Arnold Carreon said in a text message that the suspects are now awaiting charges for violation of Section 5, Article II in relation to Section 26 paragraph B of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
