UP, La Salle drop in ranking of top Asian universities


The University of the Philippines (UP) and the De La Salle University (DLSU) both dropped in the 2021 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings.

UP fell to the 84th spot from the 65th place after getting a score of 43.9 from last year's 44.5, while DLSU slid from the 301-350 bracket to the 401+ bracket.

The rankings of Asian universities were based on performance indicators in areas of teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income.

Tsinghua University in China has gained the top position in the Asia university rankings in 2021. The second place is also secured by China's Peking University.

Meanwhile, the third and fifth ranks have been secured by Singapore schools: the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

The University of Hong Kong is at fourth rank.

The sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth places belonged to The University of Tokyo, Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Seoul National University, and Kyoto University, respectively.

The 2021 ranking included 551 universities in Asia.
