WATCH: Miss Universe 2020 candidates appeal to stop cyberbullying, hate

On the eve of the 69th Miss Universe Competition in Hollywood, Florida, several candidates of the prestigious pageant took to social media and appealed to pageant fans to stop the hate and cyberbullying.

Some of the candidates who appeared in the video include Miss Philippines Rabiya Mateo, Miss Canada Nova Stevens, Miss Argentina Alina Akselrad, and Miss Denmark Amanda Petri.

"I was scrutinized because of how I dress," said Rabiya, as she appeared on the Miss Universe video entitled "Up Front: Cyberbullying."

Nova said: "Having received many comments regarding my skin color, it's hurtful, and it shows that we have a lot of work to do. If you were in my shoes, would you be okay to receive those hateful comments and messages? You think that your words are so minute, but they're not. It might be for you but for the person receiving them, those words have an impact."

"They told me I didn't deserve the title of Miss Denmark," said Amanda.
