Citing a report from the DPWH Regional Office 2, Public Works Secretary Mark A. Villar said the newly-paved, two-lane road was constructed in intermittent sections of Barangays Aggunetan, Calapangan Norte, Calapangan Sur, Tagao, and Viga to further fuel investments to the coconut, banana, and citrus plantations in these areas.

"With better road infrastructure connecting the agricultural industries, balanced development in the area will be facilitated," Villar said in a statement on Thursday, March 4.

"By turning the bumpy, gravel road that hinders mobility and adds cost in transporting agricultural products into a well-paved road, we are able to assist farmers and land-owners who cultivate these plantations," he added.

This completed project in Lasam town, which was funded under the 2020 General Appropriations Act, was part of the agency's Convergence and Special Support Program with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
