37 areas in Pasig City on granular lockdown


Mayor Vico Sotto on Friday (March 19) placed  37 areas in Pasig City on granular  lockdown amid the surge of COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR).

He said the lockdown will be strictly imposed on March 20 until April 1. 

“With the surge of cases and the emergence of variants, and upon recommendation of our City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CHD-CESU), I am declaring GRANULAR LOCKDOWN in 37 AREAS of Pasig City,” he said.

The mayor clarified that people going to work  or Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) or those with emergencies will still be allowed to go outside their homes.

“This is nothing like enhanced community quarantine,” he noted.

Barangay personnel and policemen will be strict in the implementation of this lockdown.

“ Bawal ang mga bisita at bawal lumabas ng bahay kung hindi APOR( Visitors are not yet allowed and you are not allowed to go outside your homes unless you are an APOR),” he said.

Sotto called on his constituents to be extra-cautious  especially that there new variants of COVID-19 spreading.

“Malapit na sa kapasidad ang healthcare system natin. Kung walang importanteng lakad, manatili sa ating mga tahanan (Our healthcare system is near its full capacity. If you have nothing important to do outside, stay at home,” the mayor said.

Sotto said the CHD-CESU will thoroughly observe the situation in the 37 areas in 19 barangays in Pasig. The mayor will then decide, based on CESU’s assessment, whether to extend the granular lockdown or end it on April 1.

As of March 17, Pasig City has logged 782 active cases of COVID-19. It has also recorded a total of 459 deaths. 

Data of the Department of Health (DOH) showed that the NCR has 33, 162 active cases as of March 18.
