BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to implement more than P2 billion infrastructure projects in this province, a report from the DPWH Eastern Samar District Engineering Office (ESDEO) based in this city said.
DPWH-ESDEO District Engineer Ma. Margarita Junia said that based on the General Appropriation Act (GAA) for 2021, the DPWH-ESDEO is set to implement 132 various regular infrastructure projects such as roads, flood control, and public buildings amounting to P2.4 billion.
Junia said that the amount of P2.4 billion is intended to fund programs that ensure safe and reliable national road system amounting to P1.282 billion; projects that protect lives and properties against floods worth P384.466 million; for convergence and special support program with the allocation of P52.555 million, and other local infrastructure projects worth P687.803 million.
She informed reporters that huge slice of funds will be allocated to high impact projects such as the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads with slips, slope collapse, and landslide in Barangays Libas and Binaloan amounting to P372 million and P200 million, respectively, both in Arteche; construction of the Borongan Diversion Road with an allocation of P100 million; construction of missing links in Arteche in Barangay Catumsan-Jipapad-Las Navas-Catubig-Rawis Road worth P94 million.
Junia added that other projects include the repair and retrofitting of 18 national bridges amounting to P108 million and rehabilitation and improvement of Junction National Road Carolina-Can-avid-Dolores-Maslog Road in Barangay Aroganga-Barangay Magsaysay Section in Dolores worth P131,899.
