Black Nazarene to visit Antipolo Cathedral starting Dec. 30

Scores of devotees of Quiapo’s Black Nazarene who are based in various parts of Rizal Province are expected to welcome the pilgrim image of the Black Nazarene, popularly known as Poong Nazareno as it visits the Antipolo Cathedral from December 30, 2021 to January 2, 2022.

Like in the past visits of the Black Nazarene to Antipolo, some of the devotees would join the motorcade from Quiapo Church, otherwise known as the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Manila, until the convoy of vehicles, led by the truck bearing the pilgrim image of the cross-bearing Jesus Christ in crimson robe has reached the Antipolo Cathedral.

During the recent Masses, the Antipolo Cathedral has been announcing that the Black Nazarene is scheduled to stay in the cathedral starting with a welcome mass at 10 a.m. on December 30 until a farewell Mass on January 2, 2022 at 12 noon.

The Antipolo Cathedral also announced that novena masses will also be held every 12 noon from December 30, Thursday, until January 8 in honor of the Black Nazarene.

The visit of the image of Black Nazarene is part of the localized Traslacion 2022, with the pilgrim image going to various places in the country in the absence of the traditional activities in Manila that has been known to attract millions of devotees.

Devotees from other parts of the town in Rizal Province are also expected to go the Antipolo Cathedral to perform their annual Traslacion.
