CEBU CITY – Earn while keeping your city clean.

This will be the set-up in the City of Naga, southern Cebu as the city government offers a "cash-for-work" program to speed up its clearing operation.

"Ni-initiate ug cash for work program ang City Government para sa labing apektado sa Bagyong Odette hilabi na sa kadtong wala nay pinuy-anan ug naa karon sa mga evacuation centers (The city initiated a cash-for-work program for those who were most affected by Typhoon Odette especially those who are already homeless and are now staying in evacuation centers),” the city government announced through its social media page.

A volunteer will receive P300 for each day that he or she takes part in clearing operations.

The city government said the cash incentives will help the typhoon victims rebuild their damaged homes.

Payment of the P300 cash incentive will be done every afternoon.

“Ang mga beneficiaries nga mga volunteers mao ang motabang sa pagpanglimpyo sa Naga Park and Boardwalk, Poblacion areas ug sa barangay diin sila nagpuyo (The beneficiaries who are volunteers will help clean the Naga Park and Boardwalk, Poblacion areas and in the barangays where they live),” the city government added.

The city, a fifth-class component cits of Cebu province, is intensifying its clearing operations although 80 percent of its major thoroughfares and interior roads are already passable.

The city reported zero fatality when Typhoon Odette battered Metro Cebu last December 16.
