Firecracker possession, use illegal in Cavite City

CAVITE CITY – The Cavite City government issued an executive order prohibiting not only the manufacture, sale, and distribution of firecrackers, but also the possession and use of pyrotechnic devices.

Executive Order No. 52, signed by Mayor Bernardo Paredes on Dec. 27, states it is unlawful for any person to discharge or explode any firecracker, explosive, or pyrotechnic device within the city's territorial jurisdiction.

Any business establishment caught illegally manufacturing or selling firecrackers will be subject to closure, and the proprietor, president, or general manager will be held liable.

The executive order aims to maintain public safety, peace, order, and security within the city ahead of the New Year revelry.
