Fiber broadband operator Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has boosted its international network capacity by 1.3 TeraBits per second (Tbps) in the C2C cable system, making its submarine cable configuration fully redundant.
The C2C cable system is part of the 17,000-kilometer EAC-C2C (East Asia Crossing-City to City) network, Asia's largest privately owned submarine cable network.
This cable system connects the Philippines to major data hubs like Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Korea, and China.
With the additional 1.3Tbps capacity on C2C going to Converge PoPs (points of presence), customers are guaranteed their services won't be cut even in the event of a submarine cable outage.
One Tbps is equivalent to 1,000 gigabits (GB) of data passing through the network in one second.
To date, 700Gbps out of the additional 1.3Tbps capacity is already active.
“It is our vision to make the Philippines a digital hub in Asia and securing much needed international bandwidth is key to realizing this vision," says Converge Founder and CEO Dennis Anthony Uy.
"We’re strengthening our international capacity portfolio in anticipation of tremendous demand in data in the coming years within and outside of Asia," he explained.
"This is a step in future-proofing our international network, especially as we have started with our Wholesale business.”
With the addition of the new capacity, coupled with a robust domestic digital highway and a redundant international network, Converge customers are guaranteed fast, consistent, and reliable network performance, especially in a region prone to earthquakes and typhoons.
It take weeks to repair submarine fiber cuts. Thus, having a resilient network ensures clients can continue operating with little or no opportunity loss.
Meanwhile, residential customers wilk have more consistent and reliable internet performance as the additional capacity increases the company’s connectivity to the internet.
“This additional capacity ensures sufficient and cost-effective connectivity for the fast-growing customer base of Converge, both residential and business," noted Converge COO Jesus Romero.
"Gone are the days where high quality connectivity needed to be expensive. Today, Converge is disrupting the market by offering solutions that are worth their hard-earned money,” he added.
Earlier this year, Converge bought majority ownership in companies maintaining and operating the EAC-C2C international cable landing stations in the Philippines.
The additional investments in Converge's international network will boost internet speeds and network diversity for local clients.
