QC observes peaceful Christmas celebration

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Police Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra on Saturday, Dec. 25, said that they have deployed a total of 594 personnel in the city to ensure peace and order on Christmas day.

"For this reason, the QCPD had not recorded any major untoward incident that could have disrupted the festivity of the QCitizens during the Christmas Day,” Yarra said.

The police officers from different headquarters and stations were assigned in public places such as transportation terminals, markets, malls, churches, and business establishments.

Yarra also recognized the cooperation of the local government, church authorities, and other stakeholders on the implementation of the COVID-19 health protocols and campaign against criminality during the holiday season.

“I guarantee to everyone that the entire force of the QCPD Family is always prompt in the implementation of its tactical and strategic deployment to ensure public safety all throughout the observance of the season," he said. "I also reiterate to the people to remain watchful and on full alert to help in deterring the happening of crimes and possible attacks by armed groups. Any suspicious persons or activity that may be observed must be reported immediately to proper authorities for appropriate action,” Yarra added.

Meanwhile, Yarra also gave Noche Buena food packs to around 1,722 persons under police custody (PUPCs) on Dec. 24 to celebrate Christmas. The packs were handed to the station and precinct commanders, and chiefs of the District Operating Units for the distribution to the PUPCs.

“We are looking forward that by being generous and compassionate to these persons under our custody, we would be able to win their hearts to deviate themselves from their previous felonious acts and be transformed into agents of change and channels of grace to others,” Yarra said.
