DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said seven newly developed nutritious and functional food technologies developed by Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center (NMFIC) were presented online during the NMFIC Expo held on Nov. 21.

He said the innovative food technologies “are now ready for commercialization and technology adoption.”

These include Green mango and singkamas polvoron, Protein-rich soy singkamas cookies, Fiber-enriched chayote cookies, All-natural chayote calamansi concentrate, Hassle-free kinilaw mix, All-natural sibujing powder, and Color-stable chili garlic in oil.

DOST-X Regional Director Alfonso P. Alamban graced the Technology Pitching where the products were showcased.

Housed in the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), the NMFIC is among the 17 Regional Food Innovation Centers established by the DOST in the country.

The Center is a technology hub for innovations, research and development (R&D) and support services for the food industry in Northern Mindanao.

It is equipped with high impact food processing equipment that can be used to develop and test run new food technologies.
