Malabon City gov’t to give P7-M aid to Typhoon 'Odette' victims


The Malabon City local government announced on Friday, Dec. 24, that it will donate P7 million cash aid to provinces and municipalities affected by Typhoon Odette.

Mayor Antolin “Len Len” Oreta III thanked the Sangguniang Panlungsod and Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council for the immediate passage of the resolutions extending the city government’s help to typhoon victims.

Oreta said the financial assistance will be taken from the city’s Quick Response Fund.

“In times like this, importante ang pagtutulungan ng lahat upang matiyak ang mas mabilis na pag-ahon ng mga nasalanta ng bagyo (cooperation is important to ensure the swift recovery of all those affected by the typhoon). Praying for everyone's continued safety sa kabila ng hirap na epekto ng calamity na ito (despite the difficulties and hardships brought by this calamity),” the city mayor said.

Other local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region (NCR) have also announced their financial donations for the victims.

Typhoon Odette struck Leyte, Southern Leyte, Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Surigao Del Norte, Antique and Dinagat Island on Dec. 16 and 17, claiming hundreds of lives and leaving thousands of families homeless.(Cherrylin Caacbay)
