DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista sent to the public his “greeting of unity and hope” on Christmas eve.

In his Christmas message, he took the opportunity to thank all the agency officials and employees of the DSWD for their dedication and patience in carrying out their tasks and responsibilities amid the challenges brought by the pandemic and even disasters.

The DSWD chief urged them to continue serving as instruments of self-giving especially during times of crisis.

“True to the purpose and meaning of Christmas, we, in the Department, must exert our joint utmost efforts in ensuring that our kababayans will still feel the spirit of giving, and ultimately, the spirit of hope despite the ongoing challenges we encounter,” he stressed.

“We must prove once again that the Department of Social Welfare and Development stays true to its mandate - to protect and promote the well-being of the poor, the vulnerable, and the disadvantaged amidst these trying times,” he added.

Bautista likewise enjoined everyone to unite as one DSWD family in order to help the Filipino people recover from the devastation brought by "Odette” and the prolonged effects of the pandemic.

“Let us remind ourselves of our purpose to serve and be for and with the marginalized. Our collaborative efforts shall be strengthened for the betterment of our people and the country. As we try to be the best person that we are called to be, and be the good we want to see in others,” he said.

The DSWD said it remains committed to continue providing genuine service to the Filipino people, under its mantra, “Maagap at Mapagkalingang Serbisyo.”
