Marvel Studios releases first trailer of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

Scarlet Witch joins the Sorcerer Supreme in the upcoming film

“I made a mistake and people were hurt,” Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a Scarlet Witch, says to Doctor Strange in the newly released teaser of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

That line echoes the last time we saw the character portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen in her fantasy town of Westview in Disney+’s “Wandavision.” This time, the Scarlet Witch will go on an adventure with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange regarding the Multiverse, which, according to the Studio, is a concept “we know frighteningly little” about.

Following the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” the upcoming movie of MCU’s Phase Four presents Dr. Stephen Strange and his research on the Time Stone. This brings an “old friend-turned-enemy puts an end to his plans and causes Strange to unleash unspeakable evil,” as per the leaked synopsis from Production Weekly.

By the end of the trailer, we see Doctor Strange face-to-face with an evil version of himself saying, “Things just got out of hand.” This is a scene first depicted on the animated series “What If...?”.

Directed by Sam Raimi, the movie brings back previous “Doctor Strange” stars like Benedict Wong (Wong), Rachel McAdams (Dr. Christine Palmer), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Karl Mordo).

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is set to hit the theaters internationally on May 6, 2022.
