Chinese ambassador discusses security, anti-crime cooperation with PNP top brass


The Chinese government has donated 52 laptops to the Philippine National Police (PNP) following the visit of Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian on Thursday, Dec. 23, to discuss mutual cooperation on combatting terrorism and other forms of transnational crimes towards international peace and security.

PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the courtesy call of Ambassador Huang was aimed at enforcing mutual laws and fighting international crimes including the illegal drug trade and transnational crimes.

"Today’s (Dec. 23) undertaking is a leap forward in paving way for our efforts to come into realization. Our exchange of expertise will be very instrumental in our resolve to boost the agencies’ cooperation in fighting several crimes that were associated with the rise of Chinese workers in the country such as sex trafficking, kidnapping, and possible money laundering, among others," said Carlos.

“With the acceptance of your donation goes my assurance that every effort shall be exerted to the fruitful utilization of these computers especially in this Era of Information Technology where paperless and wireless communication are being implemented and prioritized in administrative and operational compliances of our PNP personnel," he added.

Present, as witnesses, in the ceremony were Mr. Chen Chao, Police Attaché and Mr. Hong Jie, Third Secretary, both from the Embassy of PROC in Manila and the Directors of PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM), Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR), Directorate for Plans (DPL), Directorate for Operations (DO), Directorate for Logistics (DL) Directorate for Intelligence (DI), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) , Intelligence Group (IG), and Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG).

The donated ICT equipment, according to Carlos, were officially recorded in the PNP Property Book as PNP-owned assets.
