2 more party-list groups get SC TROs vs non-registration

Supreme Court (SC)

There are now seven party-list groups which got temporary restraining orders (TROs) from the Supreme Court (SC) stopping the Commission on Elections (Comelec) from not including them in the 2022 national and local elections.

Granted the TROs on Thursday, Dec. 23, were the petitions filed by Ang Programang Aasenso Taumbayan-Dream, Act, Participate and Advocate for Sustainable Transformation (APAT-DAPAT) and Ugyon Mangunguma, Mangingisda Kag Mamumugon Nga Ilonggo (UMA ILONGGO).

The Comelec was required by the SC to comment on the petitions within 10 days from receipt of the resolutions. It was also directed to stop temporarily from enforcing its orders on the non-registration of the two groups.

Last Dec. 17 the Alliance for Resilience, Sustainabilty and Empowerment (ARISE), and the Igorot Warriors International, Inc. (IWI) were granted TROs.

The same orders were issued last Dec. 21 on the petitions filed by the Ang Tinig ng Senior Citizens sa Pilipinas, Inc., Lingkud Bayanihan Party, and the Mindanao Indigenous Peoples Conference for Peace and Development.
