"Today, Her Majesty The Queen sent President Duterte a message offering her condolences and deepest sympathies to all those affected by typhoon Odette," British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils said, relaying the message of the Queen on Twitter Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Beaufils further said that the "United Kingdom stands in solidarity with the Philippines and Filipino people in the wake of this devastating typhoon."

The message of the Queen came after the British government committed to provide £750,000 to the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) to extend assistance to the typhoon victims.

"In response to the devastation caused by Typhoon Odette, the UK is contributing £750,000 to the IFRC emergency appeal supporting Philippine Red Cross. UK stands in solidarity with Philippines. Our thoughts are with all those affected," Beaufils said on Tuesday, Dec. 21.

The British envoy disclosed that UK's Minister for Asia Amanda Milling, on behalf of the British government, spoke to Philippine Ambassador Antonio Lagdameo to commit the £750,000 of support to the Philippines.

UK is among the several countries that pledged cash assistance to the Philippines to help in its relief operations for typhoon victims.
