Pope Francis offered prayers for the Filipinos who were affected by Typhoon Odette.
"I express my closeness to the population of the Philippines, struck by a strong typhoon that has caused many deaths and destroyed so many homes," he said in a tweet on Sunday, Dec 19.
“May the “Santo Niño” bring consolation and hope to the families of those most affected,” he wrote, adding the hashtag #PrayTogether.
The death toll due to the devastation wrought by Typhoon Odette has reached 208, as of 6 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 20.
Over 100,00 individuals are still in evacuation centers mostly in Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and the CARAGA region.
