Multi-awarded director-journalist Arlyn dela Cruz succumbs to cancer


Filmmaker-journalist-actress Arlyn dela Cruz has passed away.

Her children confirmed this via social media on Monday, sharing their mother succumbed to colon cancer.

“Earlier today, our mother passed away after six years of battling colon cancer,” her daughters Katrina Greta and Dominique said in a Facebook post.

“During those years, she has produced, written and directed several films, had two art exhibits and continued her relentless pursuit for the truth,” they added.

“We thank everyone who has sent thoughts and prayers our way. We will share details of her wake as soon as they are finalized.”

Arlyn, 51, suffered a stroke in 2019.

Among her films is the award-winning "Maratabat," which relates to the armed conflict in Mindanao.

She is also known for her films "Tibak," "Bubog," and "Immaculada, A Mother’s Love."
