Il Divo singer Carlos Marin passes away, Lea Salonga offers condolences

Carlos Marin

Carlos Marin, a member of classical crossover vocal group Il Divo, has passed away.

This was announced by the three remaining members of Il Divo on Facebook on Dec. 20.

The cause of death was not made clear, though reports in Spanish media suggested Marín was intubated after being admitted to an intensive care unit in Manchester, according to a report by the guardian.com.

Il Divo had postponed the rest of their December UK tour dates by a year “due to illness”. Marín had been on stage performing earlier this month, the same report added.

The full announcement:

Music fans mourned the death of Marin.

On Facebook, Salonga wrote:

"Truly you were one of a kind. I looked forward to singing with your luscious baritone at every performance on tour. Funny, handsome, and supremely talented. The world has lost someone special. Rest In Peace, my friend.

"My sincerest condolences to David, Urs and Seb, and their many fans all over the world."
