PH Red Cross deploys humanitarian caravan to 'Odette'-hit Bohol


The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Sunday, Dec. 19, deployed its humanitarian caravan to Bohol after typhoon Odette (international name: “Rai”) ravaged the province and left its buildings, infrastructure, and communication facilities severely damaged.

“We need to act fast to alleviate the suffering of the affected individuals of Typhoon Odette. Ipinadala na rin natin ang humanitarian caravan sa Bohol upang mapabilis ang pagbangon ng ating kababayan (We’ve also deployed our humanitarian caravan to Bohol to speed up the recovery of our countrymen),” said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon in a statement.

The humanitarian caravan comprises a water tank, food truck, and a 6x6 truck which contained relief items for the typhoon-affected residents.

Gordon likewise said that the humanitarian organization’s staff and volunteers are working 24/7 to ensure that assistance will be delivered to the most vulnerable and affected areas. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
