Multi-time PBA champion coach Jong Uichico underwent angioplasty procedure after suffering a heart attack at his home Saturday, Dec. 18.

Friends and colleagues were quick to show their support to Uichico, who was about to finish his exercise routine when the incident occurred.

The 59-year-old was even alert enough to drive himself to Medical City in Ortigas where the operation took place.

Uichico recently served as analyst during the broadcast of Friday’s doubleheader at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for PBA Rush.

“One of the true all-time good guys. So selfless and humble,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone, whose team saw action with Uichico on the call. “We're all pulling for you!! Get well soon.”

Uichico has been the head of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas’ coaching academy after winning nine PBA championships with San Miguel Beer, Barangay Ginebra and TNT between 1999 to 2015.

Aside from serving as part of the Gilas Pilipinas coaching staff on multiple occasions, Uichico also dabbles into broadcasting, working as analyst for several PBA and national team games.
