DepEd to teachers, personnel: Register for National ID

To make government services, especially in basic education, easier and more accessible to stakeholders, the Department of Education (DepEd) encouraged its entire workforce to register for the National ID.

“This is just one of many steps of DepEd in supporting the Philippine Statistics Authority in the rollout of the National ID campaign,” Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said.

“We saw that having a national identification card would give Filipinos a convenient time transacting with government offices,” she added.

Briones was one of the 894 individuals at the DepEd Central Office who registered for the PhilSys ID in November.

“Along with that, I would like to encourage the personnel from DepEd Regional and Division offices, schools, and other institutions to participate in this nationwide campaign once available in your localities as it gives us various benefits,” Briones said.

Meanwhile, DepEd advised its personnel to pre-register for their preferred date and time for the on-site application days before starting the application.

This, DepEd said, is to avoid the “unnecessary flock” of the people inside the venue.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development – Personnel Division (BHROD-PD) also reminded the personnel to secure the application form and requirement beforehand to ensure the smooth flowing of the queue.

The CO personnel were also instructed to follow stringent health and safety protocols during the entire process.

“We are very pleased and happy that huge number of personnel have shown their participation for this event,” OIC-Undersecretary for Human Resource and Organizational Development Wilfredo Cabral said.

“This goes to show that having a national ID would be vital in government and non-government transactions,” he added.

The six-day on-site application for the national ID was conducted by the BHROD-PD, and the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration, in coordination with PSA.

After the process, applicants were given a form with a QR code that they would present upon the delivery of the ID, which would be delivered within three to six months.
