Philippine volleyball will have a busy calendar year in 2022 with the country’s hosting and participation of several local and foreign elite tournaments.

Professional volleyball players will first take centerstage on Feb. 13 to April 3 with the season-opening conference of the Premier Volleyball League at a still undisclosed venue.

Another conference is being pegged on Oct. 2 to Nov. 6.

Beach volleyball, meanwhile, fires off on March 24 to 27 with the staging of the 2nd National Beach Volleyball Championships in Subic, Olongapo.

Penciled beach volleyball events are the National Boys’ and Girls’ U18 Beach Volleyball Championships in Negros Occidental on May 19 to 22, the Regional Beach Volleyball in August, and the 1 Star FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in Subic in December.

But the highlight for volleyball fans will be the Volleyball Nations League for Men and Women on June 14 to 26 where some of the top squads across the globe will be competing in local soil.

National athletes are likewise busy as they gear up for the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam on May 12 to 23, the 14th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship in Iran on June 20 to 27, the 21st Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Championship in China on July 4 to 11, the U16 Volleyball Championships on Aug 14 to 22, the 21st Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball championship on Aug 22 to 29, and the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on Sept. 10 to 25.

The PH men’s team seeks to eclipse its historic silver medal finish in the 2019 SEAG and compete for the first time since finishing sixth in the 1974 Asian Games in Iran.

The PH women’s team, for its part, hopes to improve its last-place finish in the 2019 SEAG and eighth in the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
