Pateros COVID-19-free as of Dec. 13

The Municipality of Pateros in Metro Manila is still coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-free as of Dec. 13.

Dr. Guido David of OCTA Research told Manila Bulletin that as of Dec. 13, Pateros had zero COVID-19 cases.

Two reports by OCTA Research showed that from Dec. 1 to 12, Pateros had no new COVID-19 cases based on data from the Department of Health’s Data Drop.

For the Dec. 6 to 12 period, Pateros recorded negative 100 percent growth and zero average daily attack rate (ADAR), or incidence, referring to the number of new daily COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population, the lowest in the National Capital Region.

Based on OCTA Research data, Taguig has the highest ADAR in Metro Manila with 0.92 followed by Pasay with 0.89 and Manila with 0.83.

Its infection, or reproduction number, is 0.02 as of Dec. 9, the lowest in Metro Manila, while the municipality’s healthcare utilization rate and intensive care unit (ICU) occupancy as of Dec. 11 are 20 percent and zero percent, respectively, compared to 27 percent and 17 percent as of Dec. 6.

Pateros Mayor Miguel “Ike” Ponce III told CNN Philippines last Dec. 6 that from Nov. 13 to Dec. 5, the Pateros municipal government’s daily reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests produced zero positive cases.

The Department of Health (DOH) recently gave the Pateros municipal government a certificate of recognition for fully vaccinating 100 percent of the target eligible population.

“This Certificate of Recognition is hereby awarded to the Municipality of Pateros for its outstanding performance and attainment of 100% COVID-19 vaccination coverage of the targeted eligible population towards a safe and protected National Capital Region,” the certificate read, signed by Dr. Gloria Balboa, regional director of the DOH’s Metro Manila Center for Health Development.

Pateros set the target population at 56,000, or 80 percent of its estimated total population of 70,000.

Ponce said last Dec. 6 that they have already fully vaccinated around 96 percent, or about 67,200, of the adult population in Pateros.
