Nearly 6,000 senior citizens have received “Pamaskong Handog” or Christmas food packages in Valenzuela City, the local government announced on Saturday, Dec. 11.

The city’s annual Pamaskong Handog program for senior citizens started in 2003.

This year, each food package contains spaghetti noodles and sauce, canned Vienna sausages, canned tuna paella, canned corned tuna, canned corned beef, canned liver spread, canned condensed milk, canned fruit cocktail, and two jars of white and red nata de coco.

The local government earlier announced that only senior citizens registered in the city’s Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) will receive Christmas packages.

Eligible residents are required to bring their claim stubs and senior citizen’s ID in their designated sites.

Meanwhile, relatives of the senior citizens are also allowed to claim the gift packs if they present an authorization letter signed by the beneficiary with an OSCA identification card and valid ID.

The distribution of Pamaskong Handog in Valenzuela City will last until Dec. 18.
