Javi GDL, Ibaraki fall to Shimane


Javi Gomez de Liano and the Ibaraki Robots suffered an 87-59 drubbing from the Shimane Susanoo Magic in the Japan B. League at the Adastria Mito Arena Saturday, Dec. 11.

Shimane found its scoring groove as early in the second quarter and led by as many as 10 points in the 9:04 mark of the period, 26-16, capped by a Perrin Buford jumpshot.

The Magic kept their momentum in the third quarter and never looked back after unloading a 10-0 run en route to a comfortable 58-40 cushion with 2:34 left.

Buford led Shimane with 23 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two steals while Reid Travis and Nick Kay fired 19 and 18 points, respectively.

De Liano only had two points, three rebounds and one steal in 18 minutes of play.

Atsunobu Hirao paced Ibaraki with 13 points while Kohei Fukuzawa added 12 markers.

The Magic remained as the No. 2 team in the West District with a 12-5 record while Ibaraki is still at rock bottom in the East with a 2-15 card.
