San Juan no. 1 in tax collection in NCR, third in entire PH

The San Juan City local government received another achievement after being recognized by the Department of Finance - Bureau of Local Government Finance (DOF - BLGF) as one of the top performing local government units (LGUs) in locally sourced revenue collection in the Philippines for Fiscal Year 2020.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora shared the good news on Wednesday, Dec. 8, in his official Facebook page.

According to the DOF - BLGF, San Juan City ranked first among all the cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) in terms of efficient government taxes collection, collecting a total of P1,731,860,000, which is equivalent to 137.1 percent of its target of P1,262,800,000, and ranking third nationwide.

“This list is a proof that our citizens’ taxes go to the city coffers and are being used for the benefit of San Juaneños,” Mayor Zamora said and added, “I would like to thank all our taxpayers and assure them that their hard-earned money will be used for the continuity of all our projects and programs under our Makabagong San Juan,” Zamora said.

Zamora vowed to even improve more the city’s collection strategies to make it easier for residents and business owners to pay their taxes.

“This is proof that our Makabagong San Juan works really hard and provides honest and efficient services to our people,” he said.

Earlier, the LGU led the groundbreaking for several new barangay halls and multi-purpose halls to improve the city's government transactions and public service to its citizens especially amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
