In a span of two years, pretty Kapuso actress Kim Domingo broke up with her boyfriend, got sick of COVID and saw her best friend die. This made her suffer from pandemic "depression" like some people. It took a while for her to pick up the pieces and now that she is ready, Kim has decided to shed off some of her sexy image and focus more on serious roles that will level up her caliber as an artist.
We will definitely see a different Kim this Saturday (Dec. 11) at 4 p.m. as she plays the female lead star in the "Lihim ng Punerarya" episode of the award-winning public service show Wish Ko Lang on the GMA Network. In the show, Kim plays the role of Ashley who went to jail for being a scammer.
The whole story actually revolves around Ashley's relationship with her mother, Rose (played by Lotlot de Leon). When she got out of jail, Ashley discovers that her mom is now living in with another man Gary (Adrian Alandy) who owns a funeral home.
From the moment she laid eyes on him, Ashley finds something off with Gary. She is determined to convince Rose to live with her again. But Rose does not trust Ashley, saying that she is just going back to her illegal means of making money that will land Ashley in jail and leave Rose alone once more.
Ashley begins to discover the mysteries behind Gary and his funeral home. The question now is: Can Ashley save her mother from Gary’s hands? Will she get to reconcile with her mom during Christmas?
“Dapat nilang abangan ano nga ba ang lihim ng punerarya? May nangyayari sa punerarya na di rin siguro alam ng mga tao na pwede palang mangyari,” Kim shared.
She said this moral lesson emerges in the whole plot: “Ano man ang gawin natin may magiging balik sa atin. Pero kung mayroon tayong nagawang pagkakamali andun pa rin yung chance na itama ang pagkakamaling ‘yon.”
Kim said she is always happy when she gets to do roles different from what she portrays on social media or in Bubble Gang, where she is a regular.
In fact, she bared that her one wish is for the Kapuso network to give her a launching project that will stretch her capabilities as an actress. Her dream role would be that of a psychopath. She believes that she has gained enough life experiences to impersonate with realism what's expected of her.
"Am not totally closing my doors on being sexy. Pero itong drama talaga ang gusto kong gawin. Sobrang saya ko na ako napili para sa character ni Ashley sa episode na ito ng Wish Ko Lang. This is my first real work coming out of the pandemic," Kim narrated.
“Lihim ng Punerarya” is part of “Pasko ng Pag-asa: The Wish Ko Lang Christmas Specials” airing this whole month of December in GMA where they feature all-female actresses in the lead.
"Lihim ....." will be followed by “The Affair” airing on Dec. 18 starring Jean Garcia, and “Gayuma” airing on Dec. 25 and headlined by Max Collins. Kapuso abroad can catch Wish Ko Lang on the Network’s international channel, GMA Pinoy TV.
