Iloilo City gets P3-billion budget for 2022

ILOILO CITY — The local government of Iloilo City will operate with a P3.083-billion budget for fiscal year 2022.

This was after the Iloilo City Council approved unanimously Tuesday, December 7, the budget submitted by the office of Mayor Jerry Treñas.

The P3.083-billion budget for 2022 is higher by almost P 400 million in comparison to last year’s budget, which was only pegged at P2.7 billion.

The biggest allocation is for the Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), which has a budget of P1.08 billion.

The second biggest allocation is for Personal Services (PS), which has a budget of a little over P1 billion.

There’s also a budget of P710.5 million for Special Purpose Appropriation; P200.1 million
for Capital Outlay; and P 52.8 million for Financial Expenses.

Despite the pandemic, Treñas noted that the Iloilo City government is able to increase its budget with a bigger share from the National Tax Allotment (NTA), which was previously known as the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).

At least 52 percent or P1.607 billion for the 2022 budget is sourced from the NTA.

More than 47.28 percent or P1.457 billion is from local revenue while 0.57 percent or P17.5 million from economic zones.
