Church leader lauds vaccination drive vs COVID-19


Balanga Bishop Ruperto C. Santos has expressed support to the government’s vaccination drive against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which has immensely helped control the surge of the viral disease in the country.

The Church leader, likewise, lauded the cooperation and support given by the public to get themselves vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Being one and united, we can move forward, rebuild lives and recover what was lost. Again, we heal as one. We pray as one. We serve and save as one,” said Bishop Santos over Radio Veritas.

A three-day vaccination drive dubbed as “Bayanihan Bakunahan” was held on Nov. 29 to Dec.1 which saw around 8.1 million Filipinos vaccinated against COVID-19.

Santos called on the public to trust in God’s mercy and love for an end to the pandemic as he urged those who had yet to get vaccinated to help the country and their fellow Filipinos move forward by going to the vaccination sites on the second round of the vaccination drive on Dec. 15 to 17.

"Glory to God that COVID-19 is being contained. It is His mercy and power. He is our true hope and He will always attend to our needs,” he said.

"Our gratitude to our health care workers, with their sacrifices and services we are cured, comforted and cared for,” Bishop Santos said.

"The government targets to vaccinate around 54 million Filipinos by the end of the year.
