Albarka Mayor’s family calls on PRRD to give justice to slain leader

The family of slain Albarka, Basilan mayor has called on President Rodrigo Duterte to give justice to the murdered local executive even as Zamboanga police investigate the possibility that the assassination is politically motivated.

“Tinatawagan namin si PRRD, si Sara Duterte at mga AFP and PNP to investigate ang pagpatay sa father namin ,” said Jaydeefar Lajid, a son of the late Albarka mayor Darussalam Lajid.

Meanwhile, Dr. Midzfar Lajid, Jaydeefar’s brother, denied reports that his father did not have official business in going to Zamboanga City.

“Dumaan lang lang yun papa ko doon kasi pupunta sila sa Davao dahil may meeting sila pati si Mayor Sara Duterte. Si Mayor Sara ang nagpapunta sa kanila doon, “ added Midzfar.

The brothers claimed to know the mastermind of the assassination but refused to identify the personality.

The brothers, together with group spokesperson and former Lantawan mayor Tahira Ismael, held a press conference in Sumisip Municipality in Basilan Province Wednesday, December 8, to denounce the killing of their kin.

The late Albarka mayor Darussalam Lajid, and driver-escort Barrad Nuruddin were killed during an ambush at a private wharf in Zamboanga City last Monday, December 6.
