CEBU CITY — Five persons were arrested while more than P4 million worth of suspected shabu were seized in separate buy-bust operations here on Monday, Dec. 7.
The arrested drug suspects were considered high-priority targets in the regional level, said Police Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas.
“We will continue to find means and ways to hit the core and paralyze the kingpins responsible for the proliferation of the illegal drug trade in the region,” said Roque.
In Talisay City, Erwin Navarro Baya, a 45-year-old painter and a resident of Barangay Labangon, Cebu City, was caught with 105 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PhP714,000.
He was arrested by operatives of the Drug Enforcement Unit of Talisay City Police Station around 5 p.m. in Barangay Candulawan.
In another operation, John Carlo Velez Cuizon, 33, and Junery Velez Cuizon, 25, were caught with P1.6 million worth of shabu by operatives of Police Station 3 in Barangay San Roque, Cebu City.
The Intelligence Unit of the Cebu City Police Office also recoevered 305 grams of shabu valued at PhP2,074,000 from Carl Garret Negro, 23, in a separate operation in Barangay Pardo.
For their part, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Jimmy Versoza Gonzales, 41, in Barangay Labangon.
At least 20 grams of shabu worth P136,000 was confiscated from Gonzales.
